Here is a great little animation which illustrates the construction of a Viking period longhall.
A short film on the Sutton Hoo helm explaining the significance of the asymmetrical eye design as illustrated in my book Fire & Steel.
Another short film about Frey’s Temple at Uppsala in Sweden. The ceremonies here played a large part in my second book, Sword of Woden – Wræcca.
Here is a link to the 1998 animated film of Beowulf, narrated by Derek Jacobi and Joseph Fiennes. Directed by Yuri Kulakov, in my view it knocks the later cinema efforts into a cocked hat, an overlooked gem, ideal for introducing the young to this classic tale.
This is the classic Athelstan programme from the Michael Wood ‘In Search of the Dark Ages from 1981.
The episode of the BBC series Timewatch which dealt with the Roman wars against, and conquest of, the Kingdom of Dacia. In my view this was one of the best episodes ever shown on this classic t.v series.
Beowulf again, this time the BBC documentary with Michael Wood, In Search of Beowulf.
The drakkar replica, Harald Fairhair.
The fantastic Grim-helm from Sutton Hoo, taken from Treasures of the British Museum-Part One.
And part two…
The Sutton Hoo shield also from mound one. A replica owned and described by my friend Paul Mortimer.
